#GO BEYOND Campaign
In a school year with so much uncertainty, one thing at CIS of Thomasville is certain of is the commitment our staff have to supporting our students. One such example of this is the relationship between Student Support Specialist, Mr. Reggie Leak and a student we will call Michael. Mr. Leak first met Michael while coaching the 12-year-old’s during Little League football. Mr. Leak recognized the barriers this young man was facing; however, he also saw the tremendous potential locked up inside this young athlete. Michael struggled with anger and confusion stemming from the loss of his mother at an early age, along with the lack of a solid role model. When he entered high school, Mr. Leak once again became his football coach, but moreover he became a positive mentor providing him with life skills to unlock his potential. Michael used those life skills as tools to unlock his potential by graduating on time and the privilege to play in the East-West All Star football game. Michael is excited about his future, one that includes full-time work to help support his family and community. Mr. Leak states, “It was a pleasure watching this young man mature and learn to funnel his emotions into positive results. His success is one that I will share with my students for years to come”.
Communities In Schools of Thomasville needs your help to reach more students like Michael in our schools every day. Case management costs $25 a month per student. Please consider a $25, $50, or $100 donation, knowing that you are making a difference in the life of a child. You may want to sponsor a student for the entire year for $250; however, any amount will be greatly appreciated.
